カルメン・カルペナはメキシコで生まれ育ったアーティストで、アートと絵画への情熱は残念ながら置きざりにしなければなりませんでした。経済が苦しい国に住んでいた彼女は、将来を確保するために異なるキャリアを学ぶようアドバイスされました。しかし、彼女は神が彼女の前に置いた道をたどる決意をし、大学を卒業した後、アメリカに移住して家族を育てることに全力を注ぎました。
たった8年前、非常に親しい家族が亡くなった悲劇が彼女の心に触れ、痛みに対処しようと鉛筆と紙を手に取るきっかけとなりました。天使の翼を持つ大切な従兄弟を描くことが、彼女の悲しみの治療法となりました。SNSに投稿された「今日は神と一緒に翼を試してみる日」と題された作品は、彼女の仲間の間で認識され、絵画を続けるきっかけとなりました。
短期間のうちに、彼女の作品はさまざまなアートショーとギャラリーで見つけることができました。最初はリアリズムに惹かれ、油絵やアクリル画でリアルな絵画を制作していましたが、後に抽象スタイルで自由を見出し、ランダムなカオスなパターンで構成された作品を制作しました。そこには、カオスと色彩のバランスを見出し、美しさと論理が共存していると感じました。
